The Simple Solution
Most low-tech, low-light (under 2 watts per gallon) tanks don’t need much nutrition to sustain growth. All plants need micro & macro nutrients, but low-tech aquariums don’t need them in very high volumes.
If you have lower levels of light, and aren’t injecting CO2, this package will keep your plants thriving. Placing pfertz root tabs [r] in the substrate will supply all necessary micronutrients and iron to your plants via their roots, while pfertz nitrogen [n] supplies a highly concentrated dose of nitrogen and potassium to your plants through the water column. All of the phosphorus that your plants need will be supplied by the food that you feed to your fish or other inhabitants.
DIRECTIONS: Insert pfertz root tabs into substrate (at least 2-inches deep), placed every 6-7 inches. Dose nitrogen [n] 2x per week @ 1 pump per 10 gallons.
The Simple Solution includes 1 bottle of nitrogen [n] and 1 package of root tabs [r]. This system will dose an average low-tech 20 gallon tank up to 2 years.

The Medium-Tech Solution
Aquariums with moderate growth and medium light (up to 4 watts per gallon), or tanks with lots of non-rooted plants (Java ferns, mosses, etc) benefit from having more nutrients in the water column. In addition to the nitrogen & potassium supplied by pfertz nitrogen [n], your plants will benefit from the extra iron and micronutrients that pfertz micros [m] provides through the water column. Your plants always need a bit of phosphorus to grow properly, but if you’re feeding your fish, there’s probably enough phosphorus in your tank that you don’t need to add more. If your tank only consists of plants, consider adding pfertz phosphorus [p] to round out your dosing.
DIRECTIONS: Dose nitrogen [n] and [m] 2-4 times per week @ 1 pump per 10 gallons.
The Medium-Tech Solution includes 1 bottle of nitrogen [n] and 1 bottle of micros [m]. This system will dose an average medium-tech 20 gallon tank 12-24 months.
Save 10% when you purchase these items together.
PF2 Price: $39.99 CAD.

Medium-Tech +
If your medium-tech planted aquarium contains any number of root feeders (Sword plants, Crypts, etc), an enriched substrate is essential for vibrant growth. By adding pfertz root tabs to your dosing routine, you provide essential micronutrients, root hormones and iron to the place it is needed most – the roots. The High-Tech Solution
High-tech tanks (4-5 watts per gallon & up) tend to push plant growth into overdrive. With all of the extra light, aquarium plants need much more nutrition for continuous healthy growth. The pfertz high-tech solution provides additional potassium [k] dosing, as well as phosphorus [p]. Phosphorus dosing becomes necessary in a high-tech tank, as the light-driven photosynthesis rate will quickly deplete any phosphorus added from fish food.
DIRECTIONS: Dose all liquid fertilizers 5-7 times per week @ 1 pump per 10 gallons.
The High-Tech Solution includes one bottle each of [m], [n], [p] and [k]. This system will dose an average high-tech 20 gallon tank 5-10 months.
Save 10% when you purchase these items together.

nitrogen
Nitrogen [n] is the first of three major nutrients that are essential to plant survival. Combined with phosphorus [p] and potassium [k], these three nutrients are known as the 'macronutrients'. These nutrients are needed in large quantities for plants to flourish. Just as humans need oxygen, protein and carbohydrates to function properly, plants have the same reliance upon the macronutrient group. Plants require nitrogen to construct biopolymers and proteins. Nitrogen is also an important component of chlorophyll, and is critical to a plant's ability to absorb and convert light energy.

These nutrients are needed in large quantities for plants to flourish. Just as humans need oxygen, protein and carbohydrates to function properly, plants have the same reliance upon the macronutrient group. Phosphorus, along with nitrogen, is an essential element in the formation of chlorophyll in plants. Phosphorus also aids in the formation of necessary energy components such as sugars and starches.

Just as humans need oxygen, protein and carbohydrates to function properly, plants have the same reliance upon the macronutrient group. micros
Micronutrients [m], as opposed to the three macronutrients (npk), are elements that are essential to healthy plant growth, but are only needed in trace amounts. Iron, boron, and manganese are only a few of the micronutrients that are necessary for plant growth, and without them plants will exhibit a variety of deficiency symptoms. A proprietary blend of micronutrients, pfertz micros is designed specifically for the needs of planted aquariums.

pfertz™ was formed with one purpose - to simplify the fertilization of planted aquariums, thus enabling everyone to grow beautiful plants. Many dosing methods currently available are either overly complicated, too messy, or just too cumbersome. You shouldn't need a chemical engineering degree to understand how to fertilize plants. You should also have no need for precision equipment and calculators to dose properly. Growing healthy plants should be the easiest part of this hobby. Creating beautiful planted arrangements is an art form, and if the hassle of growing healthy plants is eliminated, the hobbyist can devote more time to expressing their personality and creativity through this extraordinary art form.
